  There was a knock at the door....

  or more like a thunking sound really, which set our little dog into a fit of barking.

  i crawled out from behind the fridge where i was doing a repair on the waterline for the icemaker, so i could go see what all the commotion was about.

  i fugured it was going to be my neighbor returning my ladder but instead it was jw's handing out memorial invites.. the woman and the young man (her 20 something son) were people i had known but hadn't seen since we faded 4+ years ago.

  This pain that The Watch Tower Society has caused, you have carried for a long time. This is post #1374 and you are telling us now. I believe you, when you say when you stopped all that man made religious madness, your health improved.

  I am glad for every word you told the Sister and her son. It was all true words, from your heart. The truth, rattling around in her brain, will make her start to think, outside the box, for possibly, the first time. That is a very noble thing you did.

  Thank you for sharing your story, as sad and cruel as it is.

  My husband MISSED the meeting today! AGAIN!!!

  yep, i was comparing the nwt with the greek, which, incidentally uses words like 'grace' and 'spirit' instead of 'undeserved kindness' and 'gifts of the spirit'.

  i pointed out these mistranslations to my dear husband.. then i showed him 2 tim 2:5-6 in the nwt and the original greek (strong's, westcott and hort) as well, where it says jesus became mediator for all and showed him in the wt where it says jesus is only mediator for 144 000. i also showed him an instance in the wt where it raves on about hating 'apostates' and others, then showed him matthew 5:44 "however i say to you: continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you.".

  i didn't have to say anything 'apostate'; just show him the contrasting texts.. then i showed him the "shepherd" book where it says one can get dfd for "deliberately spreading teachings contraryto bible truth as taught by jebovah's witnesses" (ibid, pg 65) and told him that i've deliberately told him something different to the wt teaching therefore in the elders' eyes, i can be dfd.

  Well... I got my 'invite'

  as most know, it's that time of the year when the jws go out 'in force' and bang on doors trying to leave their litter-ature for the memorial - aka 'memorial invite'.. this morning (saturday), i was at the local coffee shop - which is normal for me.

  my wife was at home chilling on the sofa, in her nightie.. i got a text message around 9:30-ish saying that jws had been at our house.. when i got home, my wife said she was sitting on the sofa when she heard a light 'tap tap' on the door.

  we have a doorbell.

  Yesterday, a van pulled up at the end of my long driveway. My daughter yelled out, pretend you're not home! So of course, I stretched my body to look out the window, at the exact time the Elder that I have known for over 20 years, is looking into my window. lol So, I decide to answer. It was good, to see him. Because he only knew me as active and kind and helpful, in every way I could be, he was not prepared for the crying mess that came to the door. He and all his relatives, are the family, I want to help get out of the Borg. So many thoughts went through my head. I cried for joy to see him. I cried for the fact he and his family are all in, and I can't get them out! I cried because I know of the decades of sacrifices all of his family have done, only to enrich, an already rich publishing company. I cried because I am lonely, and I could feel the pull back.

  not for the first time, notched up 11 donations so far.

  would have been far more but i've been declined quite a few times for various reasons such as having a cold, dental work and trips abroad.

  they check for hiv, hepatitis b & c as well as some other diseases each time i give here in the uk.

  I have never seen his Death Certificate. Wow. At least Bonnie stated the truth about his Occupation. His life was that of a whiskey drinking, whore mongering, reprobate, that used his psychopathy personality, to build his Empire on the backs of his victims, as he made money as an Editor in the Religious Publishing field.

  i attended my first "worldly" funeral last saturday.

  BitTex ...Welcome to the Board. That was a good observation at the worldly aka normal funeral you attended. JW's funeral's give you 5 minutes on the "deceased", then it is back to the "sell". No love, no comfort, no more talk of the "deceased", a weird song, and it is over.

  A young girl"s life, cut short too soon. I am glad she was well loved. I can't imagine how horrified her family and loved ones would have been, had she been a JW, and "received" a JW "send off". Like you said, no comparison. A funeral talk by her Grandpa. How hard that must have been for him.

  What a wonderful girlfriend, to help, wake you up. There are a lot of good articles you might want to search. Just put the word(s) in the search box and away you go.

  so today after the meeting an older pioneer sister was outside as people were talking about the wonderful experience from the yearbook of the family in nigeria or wherever that went to the meeting and the plane destroyed their neighborhood.

  but since they were at the metting they lived..... .

  so she says, "you heard about the ones that died in a bus crash on the way to the convention????

  Say something to them!

  I was a Stupid Head...drinking the Kool-aid. A seat warmer...born in. It has been almost 1 year since I read C of C by Ray Franz. I had NO IDEA about TTATT at all! No one ever said anything to me.

  Yes. I have seen picketer's at DC's. Sorry, but that kind of thing is distasteful to me. I look away.

  Yes. I saw the Silent Lambs picketing, and their little lambs stuck in a fence. All of that was so ugly to me, that I didn't "hear" their message, they just seemed like a lot of weird people, so I changed the channel on the television set. So that type of picketing, would not, did not, do anything for me.

  What would have worked for me, is, if a friend, that I had a connection with, that I knew personally, not to be a nut case, sat quietly down with me and told me a few of the truths he had uncovered, then backed it up with proof, I possibly could have been out decades before.

  If a few of us tried it, most certainly with someone, even decades in The Truth(tm) it will work. You never know, until you try.
